DIGITIZING ARTWORK
Digitizing artwork is the computerized technique of turning a
design image into an embroidery program. Special software is
used to create plotting commands for the embroidery machine.
These commands create a roadmap for stitching execution.
REQUIRED FILES
We require digitized artwork in .dst (Data Stitch Tajima) format for all embroidery orders. We can digitize your files for you for a one time $15.00 fee. Your file will be saved for any future re-orders.

DISPLAYING TEXT IN YOUR DESIGN
When it comes to executing accurate stitching and preserving detail, being conscious of how your text is displayed in your design goes a long way. Here are some basic guidelines for text.
TEXT SIZE
To optimize legibility, avoid using letter sizes less than 5mm or 0.2” when displaying text. A maximum of 20 letters per line is recommended.
TEXT WIDTH
The minimum recommended line thickness for text characters is 0.05''. For thinner lines, a run stitch will be executed (single line of stitching).
FONT & FORMAT
Script or serif fonts are not
recommended for text 0.5” or
smaller. Capitalized letters in a
sans serif fonts usually produces
the best results.
During embroidery, using distressed or textured graphics may result in loss of detail depending on the size and nature of the texture included.
EMBROIDERY TIP:
Consider removing textures in your design to preserve detail. Print a sample if you do decide to leave textures in artwork.
Keep your design basic
SIMPLIFYING
YOUR DESIGN
Complicated designs with borders, backgrounds, and secondary
text can create problems and get
expensive very quickly.
Solid colors are required
MODIFYING GRADIENTS
Gradients are impossible to accurately replicate with embroidery. In order to prepare designs featuring gradients for stitching, colors must be divided or substituted for a solid color.
Empty space complicates embroidery
MODIFYING
NEGATIVE SPACE
Empty spaces in your design can create problems during embroidery. Negative space, not to be confused with transparent backgrounds, adversely affects stitching accuracy.
